If you are not yet a Second Life user:
It is very, very important to download the Second Life software, create your account, and familiarize yourself with navigation and other controls ahead of time. This process can take 15 minutes to an hour or more, depending on your familiarity with navigating in 3-D virtual environments. Second Life has a particularly steep "learning curve" even compared to other virtual worlds or games you may have tried.
Unfortunately the organizers will not be assist you with technical problems during the event.

Course Description
"Web 2.0" tools abound. Blogs, vlogs (video blogs), social networks, wikis, Flickr, YouTub, Twitter, RSS feeds, and much more. Many of these tools are free. This session will show you how to use these tools to keep up-to-date, enhance your research and collaborative work, network with colleagues and clients, and market your practice. Participants will receive handouts including links to the featured web tools.
Kate Fitz (JD, MLIS) is a reference librarian with the Sacramento County Public Law Library. She is also the founder of the Lawspot Virtual Worlds Law Library in Second Life. Ms. Fitz practiced law in California for several years before changing focus to law librarianship. She teaches Internet legal research as well as courses on Westlaw, other subscription databases, and forms and pleadings; she also co-teaches a course for self-represented litigants on basic court procedure.
Participants may pay by PayPal/credit card, or contact Cat Galileo to pay in-world. In-world payments will be calculated according to the "today's average" exchange rate as displayed at https://secure-web8.secondlife.com/currency/market.php at the time of purchase.
Participants who choose to pay for MCLE certification will receive the certificate of attendence mandated by the State Bar of California. Fitz2 will provide reasonable assistance to paying attendees from other professions or jurisdictions in obtaining credit (for instance, providing a letter or form to a bar association in another jurisdiction, or to a paralegal association), but cannot guarantee that such credit will be available. For more information, please contact Fitz2 Consulting at kate@ceratops.net.
Refunds will be available if requested more than 24 hours in advance of the program and will be made in the currency of the original purchase.
